Washed Words(2016)
By/With Rose Akras
The piece focus on the rhythm of writing that is connected to the movement, to the sound of it, the graphic format, and meaning of words. The original idea comes from a visit to an island in northern Holland where poems are written in the sand by truck tires transiting on the beaches, creating long lines parallel to the sea, leaving the text written in relief in the sand. Words are sometimes partly carried by sea, blurred by the wind or walked, resulting in broken texts and washed words. As in the case of breathing, although far less abstract, these texts pervade our days and nights associating different situations and printing the memory. The format will occupy a 'stripe' cutting the façade of Vermelho.
